Online Countdown Timer
Fast countdown timer with presets and sound alerts.
No signup · No downloads · Private browser timer
Focus mode and screen wake lock depend on your browser’s support.
How to use the online timer
Choose one of the quick presets, then start the countdown. You can pause and resume without losing the remaining time, reset when you want to begin again, and use Focus mode when you need a larger display that is easy to read from across a room.
A 5 minute timer works well for short breaks, tea, quick tidy-ups, or a brief classroom activity. The 25 minute Pomodoro preset is useful when you want a simple focus interval without creating an account or installing another app.
Popular timer uses
- Study and focus: use a fixed work interval, then take a deliberate break.
- Cooking: keep a large countdown visible while you work elsewhere in the kitchen.
- Meetings and presentations: use Focus mode to make the remaining time visible to the room.
- Exercise and practice: set a straightforward countdown for a drill, stretch, or practice block.

Timer accuracy and privacy
The countdown is calculated from elapsed wall-clock time rather than assuming every browser tick arrives exactly on schedule. That means the displayed time catches up correctly when a browser throttles work in a background tab. Browser and operating-system rules can still delay an audible alert, especially on mobile devices or when audio is restricted, so keep the page available for time-critical use.
The timer runs in your browser and does not require an account. Its countdown does not need to upload your chosen duration to a server. Focus mode and screen wake lock are optional browser capabilities and are requested only when you use the related feature.
Focus mode & screen wake lock
The Focus button expands the timer to fill your screen using the browser's Fullscreen API where available — handy for kitchen tablets and study sessions. If your browser supports the Screen Wake Lock API, the countdown also asks it to keep the screen on while a timer is running and this tab is visible; the request is released when you pause, reset, or leave the tab. Both features are optional browser capabilities: they fail silently where unsupported and make no difference to the countdown's accuracy, which is computed from wall-clock time even when browser timers are throttled in a background tab.
Online timer FAQ
Does the timer keep running in a background tab?
The countdown uses elapsed time, so when you return to the tab the remaining time is recalculated instead of depending on every background browser tick. Audio alerts can still be delayed by browser or device restrictions.
Can I use this as a 5 minute timer?
Yes. Choose the 5-minute preset and start the countdown. You can pause, resume, reset, or switch to Focus mode at any time.
Can I use the timer for a 25 minute Pomodoro?
Yes. The 25-minute preset gives you a simple focus interval. The timer does not add task lists, accounts, streaks, or other Pomodoro workflow features.
Does Sikelia Tools upload or store my timer data?
The countdown runs locally in your browser and does not need to upload the duration you choose to a server. No account is required to use the timer.
